Team Thought Sports to offer navigation training

Team Thought Sports are teaming up with A1 Series and Tiger Adventure to bring some of the best navigators in the world of Adventure Racing to Queensland for a weekend of skills training. Rob and Kathryn Preston have represented Australia many times in Orienteering, Rogaining and Adventure racing and have over 50 years of navigation practice between them.

Rob has competed in over 20 Expedition Adventure Races in the past decade, but previously competed in orienteering at an elite level, and also spent 5 years working as the High Performance Manager for Orienteering Australia. Kathryn is one of only a couple of Australian's (or even non-European)to finish on the podium at the World Orienteering Championships with a 5th place in 2009.

Rob and Kathryn have also won medals at the World Rogaining Championships several times, including winning the Mixed Open Category in 2016 and 2nd overall place.

Navigation is often the key determinant of an Adventure Racing teams performance but is often overlooked in training, or left on the shoulders of the soul 'navigator' on the team. But everyone can learn to improve and contribute with some expert, personalised training.

The first training camp will be held in Brisbane on 4th-5th August and will include both foot and mountain bike navigation. Future camps will be announced to cover both NSW and Victorian locations in the next year. Any teams wanting some personalised navigation training at other times are welcome to contact Team Thought Sports to discuss the options.

If you are racing Hells Bells Adventure Race in August, then this is targeted training is targeted for you. But there are many other races on the Queensland calendar such as the Max Adventure Sprint race, the Australasian Rogaining Championships, and the final A1 Series race Wildside just down the coast of NSW.
